Due to increasing consumer demand for animal feed produced without anti-microbial growth promoters, lactic acid feed grade can be used as growth enhancer for both pigs as poultry. By using lactic acid feed grade, the growth of moulds under influence of oxygen, moisture and heat can be stopped. This also applies if feed ingredients are contaminated due to transport, storing etc. by salmonella and other bacteria. By stopping the growth of moulds and bacteria, the quality of the feed and/or feed ingredients improves significantly. Besides by using lactic acid feed grade, the stomach pH will be lowered resulting that the pepsin (stomach-enzymes) can work more effectively.
In calf milk replacer, lactic acid is the preferred acidifier as besides being an effective antibacterial agent; it also tastes extremely well to calves.
Last but not least, by adding lactic acid to the drinking water at the farm the quality of the drinking water will increase by killing all bacteria.
Calcium lactate is a white and high flowing granule which can be clearly dissolved in water. It is an ideal calcium source increasing not only the shell quality and egg production, but also increases the body weight and firmness in shellfish feed.
Besides in animal feed, calcium lactate prevents and cures hyperpasmia (cows and horses) and as mould inhibitor it can replace calcium formate.
